Blue & Gold Banquet Pack 199 celebrated the 78th birthday of Cub Scouting at the Blue & Gold Banquet held on February 29, 2008. The evening was once again a huge success! The scouts had a great time celebrating the receipt of their rank badges. It was a bittersweet night as we said our good byes to Bob & Marty Lamport with a cute little impromptu skit, a lovely plaque and some flowers. |

Somerset Patriot's Game Another one of our most popular events with 83 people coming out to the ball game. Pack 199 had the honor of providing the color guard for the opening ceremonies and was back on the field during the seventh inning stretch to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". Always a fun evening for the boys. |

Fishing Derby This is one of our most popular events every summer. Despite a gloomy morning 23 scouts came out and participated in our catch and release challenge. Every participant received an award. A special thanks to Brian and Candee for spending the whole morning handling the fish!

Cub Scout Day Camp Pack 199 had many campers registered for Cub Scout Day Camp held at the Round Valley Youth Center. The week was packed with activities such as BB gun shooting, arts & crafts, scout skills, model rockets, sports and more. |

Bike ride on Columbia Trail It turned out to be a beautiful day for a bike ride and 6 scouts and their families enjoyed a scenic ride on the Columbia Trail. Not only did the scouts have a nice day, they also completed many of the requirements for their bicycling belt loops. Great job scouts! |

Philadelphia Overnight Trip Over half our Tiger scouts and their families enjoyed an overnight trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. The group received a personalized tour of the zoo including all the attractions. Two of our scouts even enjoyed celebrating their birthdays on this trip and there was cake for all! In the morning the boys and their families had another great tour of the zoo including a "behind the scenes" look at some of the feeding and handling areas of the zoo. This is a trip not to miss next time! |

Battleship Overnight Trip Nine scouts and their families spent the night on the Battleship New Jersey. Our group had the whole ship to themselves and enjoyed a detailed tour of the ship, sleeping in the ship's bunks below deck and even helping with the meal preparation. Our scouts also participated in the lowering and raising of the ship's colors. A special treat was the flight simulator that all participants got to experience - now they know what it was like to fly a real WWII plane. |

Annual Picnic & Campout Despite a rainy start to the afternoon, our Annual Picnic & Campout was a great success with loads of fun had by all. Over 40 people were in attendance and enjoyed games, food and good company. Also this year, a Naturalist came to talk to the boys about pond life, frogs and fish. |

Memorial Day Parade Pack 199 was once again been invited to participate in the Califon Memorial Day Parade. This is a long-standing tradition for Pack 199 only skipping last year to participate in the Tewksbury 250th Anniversary Parade instead. |

Graduation In May, Pack 199 celebrated with a special graduation ceremony. Tiger scouts participated in the candle lighting ceremony, promising to 'Do Your Best' in everything they do. All the scouts received their awards and neckerchiefs as they moved up to their new ranks. The surprise arrival of the ice cream truck was greeted with cheers as everyone was treated to dessert. |

Globetrotters The Pack organized a trip in March for the scouts and their families to see the Harlem Globetrotters. The night included the opportunity for the scouts to visit the Globetrotter University before the game and also a post-game autograph session. |

HAD Recognition Dinner Hunterdon Arrowhead District held their annual recognition dinner on April 23, 2006. Pack 199 was honored by receiving two awards: Cubmaster of the Year - Bob Lamport and Cubscouter of the Year - Eileen Klauser. This is quite an honor because there are 21 Cub Scout Packs in the district. |

Father & Son Cake Bake An abundance of well designed and elaborately decorated cakes were unveiled at the November pack meeting. Prizes for the
tallest, flattest, funniest, best shape, most colorful, most patriotic, best cub scout theme, most original and judges choice cakes were awarded. |

Somerset Patriots Our last summertime event was an evening at the ballpark. We sat right behind home plate and watched our Somerset Patriots battle the Nashua Pride. There were 106 scouts, friends and family attending from Pack 199.
The night started with autographs from the players and a special opportunity for the Webelos to participate as the color guard for the national anthem. Our pack also led the crowd in singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch. It was a great way to end the summer! |

Dorney Park Ten families from Pack 199 took the challenge on August 5th to get scared and wet or both! The excitement of thrill rides like the Dominator, Talon, Steel Force and Hydra plus water rides such as Aquablast and Lightning Falls all made for a great day at Dorney Park. |

Fishing Derby Our annual Pack 199 Fishing Derby took place on Saturday, July 17th at the Mountain Farm Nature Preserve. Over 25
scouts and their siblings fished at the large pond on a beautiful summer morning. Everyone received a medal for their efforts and the following special trophies were also awarded:

Cub Scout Day Camp Pack 199 had 31 campers registered for Cub Scout Day Camp this year. Held on July 11th -15th at Round Valley Youth Center, the theme was "Science Adventures".
It was a steaming hot week, and our gratitude goes to our adult leaders; Karen Sarnelli, Anne Fernicola, Peggy Peiler-Burrows, Heidi Brogan, and Kathie Natale, along with the many parents who helped out. The week was packed with activities such as BB gun shooting, arts & crafts, scout skills, model rockets, sports and more. |

URWA Nature Hike July 9th was a sunny summer morning, just perfect for a nature hike. After a short talk by naturalist Melissa Almendinger, 7 scouts from Pack 199 and their families set off for a hike. After a picnic lunch, we worked on the requirements for the Map & Compass belt loop.
We learned about orienting a map, how a compass works and drew maps of our neighborhood. |

INTREPID What has survived 5 kamikaze attacks, WWII, tours of duty in both Vietnam and Korea, 7 trips around the globe and the space race?
No, it's not the parents of Pack 199 Cub Scouts! It's the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum. On Sunday, June 26th, 24 families from our pack toured the museum walked the flight deck, experienced the Virtual Flight Zone, visited the exhibits, crawled through the Growler submarine and saw the Concorde. It was an exciting and fun trip! |

Annual Family Picnic & Campout Twenty-four families from Pack 199 enjoyed a wonderful BBQ, fishing, games and more at our Annual Family Picnic & Campout on June 4-5th.
We are thankful to Shop-Rite of Clinton for donating the hamburgers and hotdogs. Delicious salads and desserts were brought by each family. A special appreciation goes to Dennis Sargenti and Joe Shea for manning the grill. A monster egg toss, tug-of-war, and balloon relay games were enjoyed by all. 15 of the families camped overnight under the starry sky. |

Liberty Science Center Camp-in Approximately 100 pack199 campers explored Liberty Science Center's 250 hands-on exhibits, and science demonstrations. After sleeping among the exhibits, campers started the day with a continental breakfast and watched the latest IMAX® presentation in the nation's largest domed IMAX theater. |

Holiday Food Fare Our December pack meeting once again showed the generosity of the families in Pack 199. Over 44 food baskets filled with
complete family dinners were donated to the Open Cupboard Food Pantry in High Bridge. The boys also enjoyed singing holiday classics accompanied by Igor Saulsky on the piano, and playing the Holiday Magic Gift Exchange game.

November Service Project The scouts of Pack 199 donated personal care gift bags to the 373rd Civil Affairs Unit in Iraq. We were honored by the visit of the unit Commander, Captain Stephen J. Ryan, to accept
our donations and talk to us about their role in rebuilding Iraq communities.

Harvest Moon Hayride There were about 170 people from Pack 199 who came out to enjoy a beautiful evening at Alstede Farms. The maze, hayride and
bonfire with DJ was a great way to end a busy week. |

Whittemore Fall Festival Seven Webelos scouts volunteered their time at the Whittemore Fall Festival on Sunday, October 10th. The Webelos ran games such as beanbag toss and ring toss. This
community service project counted towards their Citizen Activity Badge. Great Job Scouts! |

Tewksbury 5K Over 10 scouts and their parents manned the water station on the corner of Hollow Brook Road and Route 517 during the Tewksbury 5K. The event was held on Sunday, October 10th
and benefited the Tewksbury First Aid Squad. |

River Tubing Bucks County River Country played host to another annual float down the delaware this August. Tubing the waters of the Delaware offered pack members a chance to float
placidly past some of the most breathtaking scenery in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. |

Nature Hike Hacklebarney State Park was the site for our Nature Scavenger Hunt. July 3rd was a sunny morning for a walk down the trails. We picnicked at
the bottom of the Trout Brook, climbed on the rocks and stored up our energy for the long hike up! A surprise was waiting for us as we returned. The County Parks department was having Snake Day! We were
able to hear about (and hold!) many different kinds of snakes. It was a lot of fun! |

Medieval Times Our brave "blue" knight was cheered on as he competed on horseback in daring feats of skill and jousting. The show
was entertaining and the feast enjoyable. The boys had no trouble eating the dinner using only their hands! Medieval Times was very well attended with 90 people from Pack 199 going
on this event, which took place on June 27th. |
